Please see the following Press Release from Scottish Water, as some customers in Dundee have been affected overnight:
Scottish Water are now initiating steps to slowly reintroduce normal water supplies to customers in parts of North East Dundee after a burst on a strategic trunk water main on Wednesday evening (5th Oct).
Around 9,500 customers in parts of Dundee (DD4 and DD5 postcode areas) experienced a loss of normal water supply, low water pressure and/or discoloured water following the burst on a 24 inch water main on Longhaugh Road, near the junction with Pitkerrro Road.
Scottish Water engineers worked through the night on emergency repairs to the damaged pipe. Whilst we carried out the complex repair, we also tankered water into the network to minimise the number of customers impacted, bringing the affected number down to around 5,000.
The work on the large diameter pipe required a significant road excavation and local traffic management will remain in place on Pitkerro Road.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said:
“We completed the complex repair around 6am on Thursday morning (6th Oct). Our customers in the area may continue to experience an impact on their water supply whilst the network is recovering.
If the water is discoloured following the restoration of supply, customers should run the cold tap in their kitchen slowly until the water runs clear.
We would like to apologise to customers who have experienced disruption to their supply during the night. Our team on site worked hard to restore water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible.”
